A lil' about me...
My name's Kikine and I'm a French Canadian living in England. I met my English husband while living in Whistler, BC 10 years ago. Gosh...how time flies!
I was first introduced to knitting by my grandma who very patiently taught me how to knit a pair of socks. She used to make them for my dad who would wear nothing else on his feet during the harsh Quebec winters. She's actually won sock knittin' contests...My hero! I eventually got the pattern down and proceeded to make them for everyone and anyone!
Well, that began my love affair with wool...I am well and truly addicted to that stuff!
Crochet is something I later learned while doing a snowboarding season in Chile. A local girl saw me knitting one of my pairs of socks and asked if I knew how to crochet, I didn't, she taught me the basics and I was away! I've been hooked ever since (sorry!). I spent all of my spare time making beanies when we came back to England. If you ever pick up a hook and learn to crochet you'll see, it's so addictive! The colour combos are
endless!
I worked in a ski & snowboard shop and my boss was kind enough to let me sell my beanies there. They sold really well so with the pennies I made I was able to order more wool and also create a tag to sew onto each hat. The response to my website has been so great, I
even got a 2 page spread in Huck magazine last year! The highlight of my
crocheting career so far! I'm loving what I do more than ever and so thankful to every customer for their purchase and all the interesting beanies I've gotten to make. Every year I learn new techniques so it keeps it really exciting. I make every single beanie myself with lots of love and care. I've also added a 'Gift Shop' page to my website this year to share some of the things I've worked on over the summer months.
I'm also a very proud aunt to a gorgeous lil' baby girl which has inspired me to expand on my baby beanie range. She's already
got one to match every shade in her wardrobe! Gotta test out my designs
right?!
I absolutely love
creating people's ideas, so please email me with yours. I still find it
amazing what beautiful things can come from a hook and ball of yarn.
Thanks for visiting my website and taking the time to read a little bit about me, hope to hear from you soon!
